Nut Bread - 1 Large Loaf

1 package yeast
1/4 cup lukewarm water
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk, scalded and cooled
3 1/2 cups flour
1 cup chopped nut meats

Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. In large bowl blend together shortening, sugar, and salt. Add eggs one at a time, and beat well. Add lukewarm milk. Then add yeat mixture, the flour and nuts. Mix thoroughly to form a soft smooth dough. Place in covered greased bowl and let rise until double. Pour in large greased bread pan. Cover and let rise until double. Bake in moderate oven for about 45 minutes.
