Applesauce Cookies

1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup thick applesauce

Cream shortening. Add sugar gradually. Add egg and beat well. Sift dry ingredients all together and add alternatively with applesauce. Drop on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
