Apple and Onion Stifle

Slice onions and cook slowly in covered pan, in a little fat until about 1/2 done. Add equal quantity of tart apples sliced, with or without peel left on. Sprinkle over a little sugar (not necessary) and a pinch of salt. Cover and cook until apples are soft.
