Candied Sweet Potatoes

6 sweet potatoes
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup butter
1/2 tsp. salt

Wash the sweet potatoes. Cook in boiling water until tender. Pell and cut into thick slices. Make a syrup of the sugar, water, butter and salt. Place the sliced, cooked potatoes in a casserole dish and pour the syrup over them. Bake about 45 minutes at 350 degrees, basting the potatoes with the syrup occasionally.
