Molasses Layer Cake

Cake
2 cups molasses
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1 cup flour

Mix all together then add:

1 cup sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
3 cups flour


Paste for Molasses Cake
1 cup warm water
1 cup sugar
3 Tbsp. corn starch
Butter the size of a walnut
